A pretreat is a termite treatment performed on the soil prior to the slab being poured. After construction and landscaping, the treating company is required by law to apply the termiticide to the soil adjacent to the structure at no extra charge to the builder or property owner. This is better known as post-treatment. The cost is included in the pretreat price. Some builders use the cheapest termite company in town. They think the termite company is the only one liable if termites damage the structure. We have seen builders getting sued because of using companies that are shady. The 2 major problems associated with pretreats are 1. not applying the correct amount of chemical under the slab and 2. not showing up to do the post-treat. Be careful!!
